Colleen Quigley is a middle-distance runner from the United States. She placed 12th in the 3,000 meters steeplechase at the 2015 World Championships in Athletics held in Beijing, China, and secured 8th place in the same event at the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics.
Born on November 20, 1992, in St. Louis, Missouri, Colleen Quigley began her training at a young age and achieved nine NCAA All-American honors while competing for Florida State University.
In June 2015, Colleen Quigley turned professional by signing with the Bowerman Track Club. Later that year, she achieved a third-place finish in the steeplechase with a time of 9:24.92 at the 2015 USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, and she also finished 12th in the 3,000 meters steeplechase at the 2015 World Championships in Athletics in Beijing, China.
She completed the race in 9:20.00, securing ninth place in the Diamond League event, Meeting de Paris, in 2016. Before this, Colleen Quigley achieved a personal best of 9:21.10, finishing eighth in the 3,000 meters steeplechase at the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics. Additionally, Colleen Quigley recorded another personal best of 9:21.29, placing third in the steeplechase behind her Team USA colleagues Emma Coburn and Courtney Frerichs at the 2016 United States Olympic Trials, which qualified her to represent the United States at the 2016 Summer Olympics. On September 3, 2018, she improved her steeplechase personal record to 9:10.27, winning at ISTASF in Berlin, thus becoming the third-fastest American woman in history.
On June 30, 2019, Colleen Quigley clocked 9:11.41, finishing seventh and third among Americans in the highly competitive Diamond League steeple at the Prefontaine Classic in Stanford, California. During the 2019 USA Indoor Track and Field Championships, she claimed first place in the mile with a time of 4:29.27, earning the title of 2019 Indoor Mile Champion.
On February 27, 2020, Colleen Quigley achieved a personal best of 8:28.71 in the 3,000 meters at Boston University, competing against her Bowerman Track Club teammates Karissa Schweizer and Shelby Houlihan. This time surpassed the former American Record of 8:33.25 set by Shalane Flanagan; however, Quigley finished in third place behind her teammates, both of whom also set new records.
During a Bowerman Track Club inter-squad meet on July 31, 2020, Quigley participated as a member of the 4 x 1500 meter relay team, which included Elise Cranny, Karissa Schweizer, and Shelby Houlihan. The team recorded a time of 16:27.02, breaking the previous world record of 16:33.58 held by Team Kenya by more than 6 seconds.
During the next seasons, she won the 3,000m steeplechase silver at the 2021 Prickly Pear Invitational and the bronze at the 2022 Portland Track Festival. Colleen Quigley also competed at the 2022 Toyota USATF Outdoor Championships and qualified for the finals, but did not finished.
In 2023, she finished 4th at the USA 1 Mile Road Championships and won the 3,000m steeplechase gold at the Portland Track Festival – High Performance. She also competed at the Abbott Dash to the Finish Line 5K, but finished 14th.
Colleen Quigley continue competing in middle distance running and steeplechase during the next two season and finished 13th at the 115th Drake Relays presented by Xtream powered by Mediacom and 10th at the Grand Blue Mile presented by Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield – USATF 1 Mile Road Championships in 2025.
