Luminosa Bogliolo

Luminosa Bogliolo is an Italian athlete specializing in track and field events, particularly hurdles. She achieved a gold medal at the 2019 Summer Universiade and secured a silver medal at the 2018 Mediterranean Games. Additionally, Luminosa Bogliolo is a gold medalist in the Diamond League and represented her country at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

Born on July 3, 1995, in Albenga, Italy, Luminosa Bogliolo began her journey in athletics during her childhood, demonstrating remarkable physical abilities and skills.

Luminosa Bogliolo commenced her competitive career in 2011, participating in the Rieti Italian U18 Championships in the 100m hurdles, where she finished in 8th place. Throughout the season, she also took part in the Macerata Italian Club Championships in the same event, finishing 4th. In addition, she earned a silver medal in the 100m at the Imperia Italian Club Championships and another silver in the 200m at the Celle Ligure Meeting Arcobaleno.

In 2012, Luminosa Bogliolo secured her inaugural junior national title, achieving victory with the gold medal in the 100m hurdles at the Firenze Italian U18 Championships. Additionally, she claimed the silver medal in the 60m hurdles at the Aosta Trofeo Sandro Calvesi, along with a bronze medal in the 100m at the Savona Italian Club Championships.

In 2013, Luminosa Bogliolo participated in the Geneve AtletiCAGeneve and the Rieti Italian Junior Championships in the 100m hurdles but did not achieve any honors. Nevertheless, she succeeded in winning the silver medal in the 200m and the bronze medal in the 100m at the Genova Regional Championships.

Luminosa Bogliolo continued to gain experience and collect local medals in 2014. She excelled in the 100m hurdles, winning gold at both the Imperia Regional Championships and the Imperia Trofeo Maurina. In the same event, she placed 4th at the Torino Italian Junior Championships. In the 60m hurdles, she earned a silver medal at the Genova Regional Indoor Championships and finished 5th at the Kuldiga Katrina Cup, as well as 8th at the Ancona Italian Junior Indoor Championships.

Luminosa Bogliolo made her debut as senior national champions in 2015, yet she did not advance to the finals at the Torino Italian Championships in the 100m hurdles. Luminosa Bogliolo commenced the 2017 season by securing the silver medal in the 60m hurdles at the Ancona Italian U23 Indoor Championships and concluded the Ancona Italian Indoor Championships in 5th place. Throughout the outdoor season, she achieved gold in the 100m hurdles at both the Firenze Italian U23 Championships and the Catania Italian University Championships, placed 6th at the Trieste Italian Championships, and participated in the Bydgoszcz European U23 Championships as well as the Taipei Universiade.

In 2018, Luminosa Bogliolo set a personal record in the 100m hurdles with a time of 12.99 seconds, attaining the 13th position in the seasonal European rankings, which enabled her to meet the EAA standard and secure selection for the 2018 European Athletics Championships. She took part in the Berlin European Athletics Championships but was unable to advance to the finals. Nevertheless, Luminosa Bogliolo celebrated her first national title by winning the gold medal in the 100m hurdles at the Pescara Italian Championships. Additionally, she earned a silver medal in the 100m hurdles at the Padova Meeting Citta di Padova and at the Tarragona Mediterranean Games.

During the outdoor season, she achieved victory in the 100m hurdles at the Napoli Universiade, Bressanone Italian Championships, and Bydgoszcz European Athletics Team Championships, in addition to winning at Resisprint International, Meeting Stanislas Nancy, Meeting International Citta di Savona, and the Kamila Skolimowska Memorial. She also competed at the Doha IAAF World Championships in Athletics but was unable to advance to the finals.

Luminosa Bogliolo had another remarkable season in 2020, clinching gold in the Diamond League and excelling in the 100m hurdles at the BAUHAUS-Galan in Stockholm. Furthermore, she earned a silver medal at the Golden Gala Pietro Mennea in Rome. Additionally, Luminosa Bogliolo won the 100m hurdles gold at the Padova Italian Championships, the 56th Palio Citta della Quercia, and the 13th Triveneto Meeting, along with a silver medal at the Gala dei Castelli.

In 2021, Luminosa Bogliolo began the indoor season with some hesitation, ultimately securing 6th place in the 60m hurdles at the Torun European Athletics Indoor Championships. In addition, she achieved 4th place at the Copernicus Cup and 7th at the Meeting Hauts-de-France Pas-de-Calais.

During the outdoor season, she claimed the gold medal in the 100m hurdles at the Rovereto Italian Championships, as well as silver at both the 10° Meeting International Citta di Savona and the Chorzow European Athletics Team Championships Super League. Furthermore, she earned a bronze medal in the Diamond League at the Muller Grand Prix Gateshead. Although she participated in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, she was unable to advance to the finals.

In 2022, Luminosa Bogliolo took part in the World Athletics Indoor Tour but did not secure a medal. Nevertheless, she achieved a silver medal in the 60m hurdles at the Ancona Italian Indoor Championships. During the outdoor season, she won gold in the 100m hurdles at the 15° Triveneto Meeting Internazionale and silver at the 11° Meeting International Citta Di Savona. Additionally, she earned a silver medal at the XXV Meeting Internazionale Citta di Nembro and competed in the Munich European Athletics Championships.

Luminosa Bogliolo finished 5th in 60m hurdles at the Ancona Italian Indoor Championships in 2023, while in 2024 competed at the Orlen Cup Łodz.
