Maria Isabel Perez, commonly referred to as Maribel Perez, is a distinguished Spanish track and field athlete specializing in sprints and relays. She has earned a bronze medal at the Ibero-American Championships, is a multiple national champion, and has competed in the Olympics, establishing herself as one of the country’s most prominent and skilled athletes. Additionally, she holds the national records for the 60m and the 4x100m relay.

Maria Isabel Perez was born on March 1, 1993, in Seville, Spain. She began her athletic career early and demonstrated exceptional abilities in sprinting. In 2010, she secured the title of national junior champion in the 60m event and earned a bronze medal at the Xativa Spanish Junior Championships in 2011. At that time, she was regarded as one of the most promising talents in Spanish athletics.

Maria Isabel Perez commenced her competitive journey in 2008. At just 9 years of age, she secured a bronze medal in the 60m event at the Monachil Control Meeting. Two years later, she claimed the title at the Oviedo Spanish U18 Indoor Championships in the 60m and achieved a bronze medal in the senior 4x100m relay at the Aviles Spanish Championships. Additionally, she placed 4th in the 100m at the Madrid Spanish Club Championships. In 2011, Maribel Perez began her season by winning a bronze medal in the 60m at the Sabadell Spanish Indoor Junior Club Championships, followed by a silver in the 60m at the Monachil Control Velocidad y Saltos and another silver in the 100m at the Madrid Spanish Club Championships. She also won gold in the 4x100m relay at the Zaragoza Campeonato de Espana de Federaciones.

Despite a promising start to her career and possessing considerable talent, Maria Isabel Perez was unable to achieve significant international success in the subsequent seasons. She participated in the 4x100m relay at the 2012 Barcelona IAAF World Junior Championships but did not advance past the heats. At the 2013 Gateshead European Team Championships, she secured a third-place finish in the 4x100m relay, yet fell short of the podium in Final 2. It was not until 2014 that she attained a bronze medal in the 4x100m relay at the Braunschweig European Team Championships. That same year, she also competed in the 4x100m relay at the Zurich European Championships but again did not progress beyond the heats. However, she did achieve a silver medal at the Alcobendas Spanish Championships.

In 2015, Maria Isabel Perez won a bronze medal in the 100m at the Castellon Spanish Championships, but her most notable accomplishment that season was securing a bronze in the 4x100m relay at the Monaco Herculis, despite it not being a Diamond event. Additionally, she earned a silver medal in the 100m at both the Tarragona Spanish U23 Championships and the Valencia Spanish Club Championships.

Maria Isabel Perez achieved notable success in athletics, competing in the 4x100m relay at the Roma Golden Gala in 2016, where she secured a 4th place finish. In the same year, she claimed the gold medal at the Mersin ECCC Group A and a silver medal at the Gijon Spanish Championships. Individually, she earned a silver medal in the 100m at the Gijon Spanish Championships, finishing 5th at the Mersin ECCC Group A and 6th at the Madrid Meeting 2016. In 2018, Maribel Perez achieved remarkable success by securing the gold medal in the 100m event at the Birmingham ECCC Group A. She further excelled by winning the 100m title and earning a silver medal in the 4x100m relay at the Getafe Spanish Championships. Additionally, she claimed a silver medal in the 4x100m relay at the Tarragona Mediterranean Games and placed 8th in the 4x100m relay at the Berlin European Athletics Championships.

Maria Isabel Perez continued to garner national accolades in 2019, winning both the 100m and 4x100m relay silver medals at the La Nucia Spanish Championships, along with a silver in the 4x100m relay at the Meeting de Paris. In 2020, she finished 4th in the 60m at the Meeting de l’Eure, before clinching the gold medal in the 60m at the Ourense Spanish Indoor Championships. During the outdoor season, she triumphed in the 100m event at both the Reunion de Lanzamientos and the Madrid Copa Iberdrola Oro, where she also excelled in the 4x100m relay.

Maribel Perez remains one of Spain’s leading sprinters, demonstrating impressive performances in 2021. She secured a silver medal in the 60m at the Madrid Spanish Indoor Championships and participated in the Torun European Athletics Indoor Championships. At the Chorzow European Athletics Team Championships Super League and the Marseille Meeting International, she placed 5th, while at the Getafe Spanish Championships, she achieved gold in the 100m. She was a member of the Spanish 4x100m relay team for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and the Chorzow World Athletics Relays, although she did not advance past the heats in either event.

In the 2022 season, Maria Isabel Perez commenced with a gold medal in the 60m at the INIT INDOOR MEETING Karlsruhe and the Dynamic New Athletics Indoor Match in Glasgow, followed by another victory at the Ourense Spanish Indoor Championships. At the Beograd World Athletics Indoor Championships, she finished 6th in the semi-finals, narrowly missing the opportunity to compete for medals, yet showcasing her exceptional talent. Throughout the outdoor season, Maribel Perez earned a bronze medal in the 100m at both the La Nucia Ibero American Athletics Championships and the La Nucia Liga Iberdrola de Clubes. She concluded the Munich European Athletics Championships with a 6th place finish in the 100m and a 4th place finish in the 4x100m relay, as well as a 5th place finish in the 4x100m relay at the Eugene World Athletics Championships.

In 2023, Maria Isabel Perez established herself as one of the leading sprinters in Spain. She secured a gold medal in the 60m event at the Malaga Indoor Match, along with a silver medal at both the Meeting de l’Eure and the Madrid Spanish Indoor Championships, and placed 6th at the ORLEN Copernicus Cup in Torun. In the 100m event, she achieved a silver medal at the Meeting de Atletismo Toni Bonet and finished 4th at the 12th International Meeting ‘Citta’ Di Savona’. Maria Isabel Perez participated in her second Olympic Games at the Paris 2024, representing the Spanish team in the 4x100m relay, although they did not advance past the heats. Nevertheless, she earned a bronze medal in the relay at the World Athletics Relays in the Bahamas and a gold medal at the Penn Relay Carnival, while also finishing 4th at the Roma European Athletics Championships. Throughout the season, she claimed the gold medal in the 100m at the Míting Internacional Ciutat de Barcelona, a silver medal in the 100m at both the Desafio Nerja and the Meeting Guadalajara Atletismo Puma, and a silver medal in the 60m at the Ourense Spanish Indoor Championships.

Maria Isabel Perez started the 2025 season by winning 60m bronze at the prestigious I Meeting Internacional de Ourense, the silver at the Meeting de L’Eure and the gold at the Antequera Indoor Match. She finished 7th at the Wo4ld Athletics Indoor Tour’s INIT Indoor Meeting Karlsruhe and won her 6th national title at the Madrid Spanish Indoor Championships, setting a national record in 60m of 7.15 sec. At the Apeldoorn European Athletics Indoor Championships she finished 2nd in the 60m heats, but in the semi-finals was only 4th and missed to qualify for the final.
