Maryna Bekh-Romanchuk is a distinguished Ukrainian athlete specializing in long jump, triple jump, and 60m sprint. She holds the title of European Indoor champion in long jump from the 2021 Torun championships and has earned silver medals at the World Outdoor Championships in Doha 2019 and the Budapest World Athletics Championships in triple jump. Additionally, she is a multiple-time Ukrainian champion in both long jump and triple jump, as well as four-time Diamond League winner.
Born on July 18, 1995, in Moroziv, Ukraine, she began her athletic career at a young age, emerging as one of Ukraine’s most promising talents in long jump. Her notable achievements include a fifth-place finish at the 2011 World Youth Championships, an eighth-place finish at the 2012 World Junior Championships, and a bronze medal at the 2013 European Junior Championships.
At the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, she competed in long jump, finishing fifth with a distance of 6.88 m, while her personal best of 6.93 m was recorded in Lutsk in 2016.
Maryna Bekh-Romanchuk specialized in the long jump, securing the gold medal at the European Indoor Championships held in Torun in 2021 and at the Universiade in Naples in 2020. Additionally, she achieved a silver medal at the World Championships in Doha in 2020 and at the European Championships in Berlin in 2018. In 2020, she claimed gold medals in long jump at the Lutsk Ukrainian Championships, BAUHAUS-Galan in Stockholm, and the Doha Diamond League Meeting, along with prestigious events such as the Indoor Meeting in Karlsruhe, ORLEN Copernicus Cup in Torun, Muller Indoor Grand Prix in Glasgow, and Meeting Hauts-de-France Pas-de-Calais. Furthermore, she earned a silver medal at the Gyulai Istvan Memorial – Hungarian Athletics Grand Prix.
In 2021, Maryna Bekh-Romanchuk continued her dominance in the local long jump scene, securing additional national titles at both the Lutsk Ukrainian Championships and the Sumy Ukrainian Indoor Championships. She also claimed gold at the Torun European Athletics Indoor Championships. Although she finished 5th at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics during the outdoor season, she achieved her first Diamond League gold at the Muller British GP and earned bronze at both the Golden Gala Pietro Mennea and the Bauhaus-Galan in Stockholm. By the end of the season, she secured a bronze medal in long jump at the Diamond League Final held at the Weltklasse.
In 2022, Maryna Bekh-Romanchuk made her debut in the triple jump at the Ukrainian National Indoor Championships, where she won gold with a distance of 14.34 m. Later that season, she won the triple jump gold at the Munich European Athletics Championships but did not medal in the long jump, finishing in 5th place. At the Eugene World Athletics Championships, she placed 10th in the triple jump and 8th in the long jump. Throughout the season, she also achieved gold in long jump at the Golden Gala Pietro Mennea and silver at the BAUHAUS-Galan in Stockholm, along with silver medals in triple jump at both the Ooredoo Doha Meeting and the Diamond League Finals Weltklasse. Additionally, she competed at the Beograd World Athletics Indoor Championships, where she won silver in the triple jump.
In 2023, Maryna Bekh-Romanchuk commenced her season by securing a bronze medal in the triple jump at both the Init Indoor Meeting in Karlsruhe and the Meeting Hauts-de-France Pas-de-Calais. Throughout the outdoor season, she achieved a bronze medal in the long jump at the Golden Gala Pietro Mennea, along with silver medals in the triple jump at the Meeting International Mohammed VI d’Athletisme de Rabat, the Silesia Kamila Skolimowska Memorial, and the Memorial van Damme in Brussels. Additionally, she earned a silver medal in the triple jump at the Budapest World Athletics Championships.
Maryna Bekh-Romanchuk competed at the Paris 2024 Olympics and finished 11th in the triple jump’s final. During the season she won the triple jump bronze at the Monaco Diamond League’s Meeting International d’Athletisme Herculis EBS.
